How to love someone better

How to love someone better

1. Be a freeing presence in their life. Encourage them to make choices that feel empowering and right for them.

2. Do something that they love (and that you do not necessarily love) together with them every once in a way.

3. Rephrase your complaints into requests. Instead of saying “You always…” try saying: ”Can you please…”

4. In times of conflict, pause and reconnect with your highest intention before responding.

5. Communicate your needs and expectations clearly, regularly and respectfully.

6. Preserve your independence. Have your own friends, interests and hobbies outside of the relationship.

7. Try to always consider your partners. Also show them sometimes that you can put their needs before your own.

8. Express genuine gratitude or appreciation for their qualities and small gestures everyday.

9. Figure out how they like to be loved and express your love for them in a way that they need and understand.

10. Every now and then offer to help them: eg., ”Why don't you take a break and relax while I take care of ‘x’ for you.”

11. Accept that they will change. And try to love and accept them as they change.

12. Be their best, most non-judgemental friend.
